Helping Hand for a Heavy Heart
Dear Friends and Family,
I write to you with a heavy heart and to ask for your helping hand.
In most of my letters, I have written about the beloved community of Homies Empowerment—a grassroots BIPOC-led organization that welcomed and embraced our family during the pandemic.
We broke bread together and shared it with each other—literally—and I have been forever changed by their love.
This weekend, I learned a car crashed into the side of the Homies Empowerment Care Center destroying rows and rows of fresh fruits and vegetables, clothing and diapers, and computers and books.
The Care Center, in a new building, was set to open for the first time on the day of the crash.
In past letters, I have asked for donations to Homies and I am grateful for each one. Today, however, I am asking you to please dig deep and donate again.

Homies does what the government should do—provide living wage jobs with medical benefits, sick leave, and vacation time and provide food, clothing, and education with dignity and grace.
